Ms. Aishling Silke
As placement coordinator (2020–2026), Aishling implemented innovative placement models that strengthened institutional connections between DCU and Early Years settings while improving student outcomes. She experimented with alternative placement support and assessment methods using a hybrid approach.
Aisling's research centers on Transformative Futures and Engaged Research.. Through her PhD, Aishling has specialised in facilitating Jungk Futures Workshops, an inclusive, participatory, democratic, empowering approach. This approach supports underrepresented groups to recognise their power to create and advocate for alternative futures, break with the Status Quo, and influence government policy that affects them.
Along with her role as Assistant Professor at DCU, Aishling actively shapes public policy as a Dublin City Councillor and a leading figure on SIPTU’s Early Years Union National Committee. Her civic engagement reflects a core commitment to leveraging academic practice to drive positive, systemic societal transformation.
