DCU Institute of Education

Research at DCU Institute of Education is focused on advocating for positive changes and transformations in educational policymaking and practices across the island of Ireland and internationally. As a centre of expertise and excellence in teacher education and education more generally, the Institute hosts a range of research centres in key areas of priority and has an ambitious and growing programme of research. With internationally recognised experts, DCU Institute of Education is dedicated to the promotion of research and scholarship to the highest international levels in education policy, inclusive and special education, curriculum and pedagogy, assessment, literacy, evaluation and teacher education. The Institute further aims to strengthen the participation and voice of stakeholders in matters regarding education research. Therefore, the Institute has a particular focus on engagement in high-quality research that improves pedagogic practices and enhances learners' experiences in formal, informal and/or non-formal learning contexts, and that informs policy-making and civil society within and beyond Ireland. Many of the Institute’s academic staff are involved in research funded by the EU, the Irish Government, the Irish Research Council, NGOs and the charity sector.
