Dr. Sinead Breen
Sinéad is a lecturer in the School of Mathematical Sciences and a member of DCU's CASTeL research centre. Her research interests centre on mathematics education, particularly at undergraduate level and at senior cycle of second-level. Many recent projects have focussed on the design and classification of mathematical tasks which promote the development of (higher order) mathematical thinking skills and active learning; while others have involved the identification of threshold concepts in mathematics and the development of concept inventories.
Sinéad has also participated in research projects engaging in inquiry into and reflection on one's own teaching practice as a form of continuous professional development using different methodologies such as Lesson Study and Mason’s Discipline of Noticing.
