Research Interests
Emma is interested in exploring how contextual behavioural science can be applied to solve complex social challenges, particularly in the areas of health and sustainability. Emma's research examines how social, technological, cultural and environmental contexts shape adaptive action, with a particular focus on how indirect acting contingencies and relational reposnding drives our health, psychological well-being and environmental action. Examples of past projects include supporting families affected by childhood cancer through connected health technologies, improving engagement with health information, and promoting psychological wellbeing. Across projects such as PUreTex, AGSENSE and BOHEMIAN, Emma investigates how behavioural insights can support sustainable consumption, environmental decision-making, and engagement with health-protective technologies, with the overarching aim of designing systems and interventions that enable meaningful and socially significant behaviour change.
Research interests include cultural systems analysis, indirect acting contingencies, relational responding, psychological flexibility, and community co-design with focus on sustainability, health and neurodiversity.
