The School of Inclusive and Special Education is the first and only dedicated school of its kind within an Irish university. Bringing together a critical mass of expertise, we are committed to advancing the rights of all children and young people to an appropriate education and lifelong learning.
Our School offers a full suite of postgraduate programmes from Certificate to Doctoral level in face-to-face, blended, and online formats, while also contributing broadly to initial teacher education and postgraduate studies across DCU. Demonstrating this commitment, we host the Centre for Inclusive Pedagogy, a dynamic community conducting internationally significant research that develops understanding of inclusive pedagogy.
We warmly welcome research students at Master’s, Professional Doctorate, and PhD levels.

From Understanding to Action
“The mission of the DCU Centre for Inclusive Pedagogy is to host a vibrant and dynamic community of educational researchers committed to conducting and sharing internationally significant research that will develop understanding of pedagogy to support the inclusion of all learners in education. The overall purpose of the centre is to focus research on how to include all students in the general education system, from a pedagogical, curricular, assessment and community perspective, giving all access to, participation in and benefit from individually relevant learning.”
