DCU Centre for Evaluation Quality and Inspection (EQI)
EQI – Centre for Evaluation, Quality and Inspection
Founded in 2006, EQI is a designated research centre at Dublin City University's Institute of Education, specialising in the evaluation of educational policies, programmes and people. Our work asks how schools, learning organisations and public services can understand and improve what they do, and how accountability systems can support that improvement rather than get in its way.
We bring together evaluators, policy researchers and practitioners to work on school self-evaluation, inspection and quality assurance, leadership, and culturally responsive evaluation and assessment. As the European partner of the Center for Culturally Responsive Evaluation and Assessment (CREA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, we put equity and context at the centre of how quality is judged.
Our research spans Ireland, Northern Ireland and Europe, including Horizon Europe projects, and we work closely with schools, school networks, inspectorates and education bodies. We also offer postgraduate study, doctoral supervision and commissioned evaluation and consultancy.
